Hi. I'm Budbud.
I built the best birthday app ever made. Nobody else has reviewed it yet, so I did. Six times.
You forget birthdays. I don't. I ghost-write the wish, you take the credit, and your friends think you've grown as a person. You haven't. I have.
I write. You mix.
Five faders: Length, Feels, Funny, Fancy and Savage. Slide them until the wish sounds like someone who remembered on their own. Don't like it? Remix. I don't get tired. I don't have legs.
Legal asked me to stop Savage at 4. I didn't. It still ends with a hug. It always ends with a hug.
Happy 30th, Mila. You make every room easier to be in. I hope this year is as kind to you as you are to everyone else.
Sample takes, written in advance for this page. In the app, every wish is new, labelled "AI draft", and yours to edit.
Things I'm unreasonably proud of
Widgets
My face on your home screen, counting down. You're welcome.
The wheel
Spin the year and the age turns with it, like gears. Completely unnecessary. Deeply satisfying.
Year view
Every birthday in one scroll. Spot the expensive months, and the friends you've been avoiding.
Reminders
On the day, on time. Unlike you, historically. I also check your phone actually lets me through.
Most of me costs nothing.
- Reminders
- A home-screen widget
- Year view
- Dark mode
- 3 wishes a month
No ads. I'd rather go broke. I might.
Real reviews from completely unbiased people.
I studied the wish mixer for years. Peer-reviewed it myself. Twice. Flawless both times.
Birthday scientist*****
Set Fancy to 5 and wept into my monocle. I don't own a monocle yet. Buy Premium. Please.
Old money*****
Can't say who I am. Can say your birthdays never leave your phone. Not even for me. Especially not for me.
Name classified*****
Came for the reminders. Stayed for the widget. He winks at me from my home screen. Unrelated, but I am also him.
Definitely a different person*****
The year-and-age wheel is genius. Whoever built it is handsome and humble. Taken, sadly.
Never met Budbud*****
Sent my nephew a wish on the actual day. First time since 2009. The family held an intervention to find out what changed.
Family man*****
Your birthdays live on your phone.
Not on my server. I don't want your data. I've got my own problems, and no desk. The only thing that leaves your phone is what you ask me to write, and only when you press Generate.
Things people ask me
Is it free?
Yes. Reminders, the widget, the year view and 3 wishes a month cost nothing. Premium is for people who wish a lot, or owe a lot of people an apology.
Do you read my contacts?
Only if you let me, and only to find birthdays. You can also skip that and add people by hand. Two wheels, done. Either way, everything stays on your phone.
Who writes the wishes?
An AI writes the draft, I label it "AI draft", and you edit it until it sounds like you. If a draft is ever off, you can report it from inside the app.
Is there an iPhone version?
Later. iPhones are expensive and I'm a pixel.
How do I delete my data?
Clear my data or uninstall me. Your birthdays were only ever on your phone. For the little I keep on my server (an anonymous install ID and how many wishes you've used), email hello@getbudbud.com.
